Background
BD Rowa™ is a German manufacturer of advanced automated order picking systems.
These systems are used for the automated storage, organisation and handling of medicines and other products in pharmacies, hospitals and the pharmaceutical industry.
BD Rowa™ introduced its first automated order picking system to the market around 25 years ago. Today, more than 11,000 systems are in operation across 55 countries.
Every BD Rowa™ automated order picking system continues to be developed and manufactured at the company’s headquarters in Kelberg/Eifel, Germany, and is dispatched from there.
BD Rowa™ and Bilz have maintained a long-standing business relationship for many years.
The Challenge
A universal mounting solution was required for the installation of BD Rowa™’s highly automated order picking systems.
The solution had to meet several demanding requirements.
It needed to include easy-to-adjust levelling elements combined with suitable isolation plates.
At the same time, the system had to effectively isolate structure-borne noise and maintain the geometric accuracy and stability of the equipment over many years of operation.
The main requirements included:

- Reliable performance under both static and dynamic loads
The Solution
Bilz engineers worked closely with the customer to develop a solution specifically adapted to the requirements of BD Rowa™.
Custom machine feet were manufactured to meet specific requirements related to:
- Shape
- Colour
- Levelling
- Fastening screws
- Installation conditions
The integration of Bilz isolation plates also proved to be an economically efficient solution for BD Rowa™.
The excellent damping characteristics of the isolation plates provide reliable suspension and maintain consistent levelling under both static and dynamic operating conditions.
With this system, the automated order pickers could be installed with effective vibration and structure-borne sound isolation.
The Bilz solution has now been successfully used by BD Rowa™ for around 15 years.
Unwanted vibrations are effectively isolated, helping improve operating processes through greater precision.
