One of Our Proven Solutions for Machine Mounting: Vibration-Isolated Platforms
Project Overview
Key Facts
- Suitable for machines and installations weighing more than 35 tonnes
Background
Many industrial applications require indirect vibration isolation. This may be due to high requirements for isolation efficiency and level stability, or because the machine or installation does not have sufficient inherent rigidity.
At the same time, the performance requirements for test benches and testing systems in the automotive industry have become much more demanding in recent years.
The positive aspect is that vibration isolation technology has also continued to develop to meet these increasing demands.
One such proven solution is the use of vibration-isolated platforms, which are successfully used for demanding applications such as engine test benches and even test benches used in Formula 1 environments.
The Challenge
In installations where the machine structure does not provide sufficient inherent rigidity for direct vibration isolation, a rigid intermediate structure must be installed between the machine and the vibration isolators.
For machines or aggregates that generate particularly high dynamic forces, additional seismic mass may also be required to achieve effective vibration isolation.
This type of arrangement is known as indirect vibration isolation.
To develop the most suitable solution for each application, detailed technical information is first collected from the customer at the installation site.
Modular platform with optimised centre of gravity for AIS High Performance
Platform for the lowest possible installation height. Suitable for systems with a high centre of gravity.
The key parameters include:
- Machine dimensions
- Centre of gravity of the machine
- Dynamic forces generated by the machine
- Permissible machine movement
- Required level of vibration isolation
- Mobility requirements for flexible machine installation
- Connected components, attachments or feeding systems
- Type of installation location, including permissible floor load and floor conditions
Modular Platform with Optimised Centre of Gravity
A modular platform with an optimised centre of gravity can be used for AIS High Performance applications where improved system stability and effective vibration isolation are required.
Platform with Minimum Installation Height
For machines or systems with a high centre of gravity, a platform designed with the lowest possible installation height can help improve overall stability while maintaining effective vibration isolation.
The Solution
In machine and plant engineering applications, these requirements are often addressed using vibration-isolated platforms.
Depending on the platform design, the machine base can be widened and the overall centre of mass can be lowered through the additional platform mass and the strategic positioning of the vibration isolators.
This greatly improves the mechanical stability of the complete machine and platform system.
Vibration-Isolated Cast Steel Plate
A vibration-isolated cast steel plate can provide a stable and rigid mounting base for heavy machines and equipment while helping to reduce the transmission of unwanted vibrations.
Mounting a machine on a vibration-isolated platform is a proven solution when traditional foundation isolation is not practical or possible.
Typical situations include:
- Installation on an upper floor
- Limited installation space
- Requirement for a flexible or movable installation location
