Machine levelling is essential for maintaining stability, accuracy and long-term equipment performance.
Levelling wedges are widely used for heavy machinery such as injection moulding machines, extruders, die-casting machines and large machining centres.
Step 1: Pre-Level the Machine
Use suitable hydraulic jacks or jacking screws to bring the machine close to its final level before installing the wedges.
Step 2: Position the Levelling Wedges
Place the wedges under the designated machine support points and adjust them until they make firm contact with the machine base.
Step 3: Preload the Wedges
Apply an even preload to each wedge using a torque wrench.
The required torque should be based on machine weight, wedge quantity and the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Step 4: Remove Temporary Supports
Once all wedges are supporting the machine, carefully remove the hydraulic jacks or temporary supports.
Step 5: Check Load Distribution
Re-check each wedge to confirm that the machine load is distributed correctly across all support points.
Step 6: Make Final Adjustments
Adjust one axis at a time.
- Longitudinal axis: Make small, even adjustments at the front or rear.
- Transverse axis: Adjust corresponding wedges carefully to correct side-to-side level.
Use precise measuring instruments and make gradual adjustments.
Step 7: Secure and Re-Check
After final levelling:
- Secure all adjustment points
- Re-check wedge loading
- Verify both machine axes
- Repeat small adjustments if necessary
