Before installing a new machine in your factory, proper preparation is important for safe installation, better performance and longer machine life.
1. Foundation
The foundation must be strong enough to support the machine without bending, settling or cracking.
Common options:
- Independent concrete pad
- Strong steel or mezzanine support
Direct mounting on a weak floor is not recommended because it can increase vibration and noise.
2. Anchoring
Anchor bolts securely fix the machine to the foundation.
Choose:
- Correct bolt size
- Strong bolts that will not loosen over time
- Proper anchor pattern
3. Vibration Isolation
Heavy machines create vibration that can affect nearby equipment.
Common solutions:
- Separate concrete foundation
- Springs
- Elastomeric or vibration isolation pads
Correct isolator selection is important because every isolator works within a specific vibration range.
4. Leveling
Machines should be properly level before starting production.
Level can be checked using:
- Liquid level
- Laser alignment equipment
Avoid poor-quality shimming that does not fully support the machine feet.
5. Alignment
Proper alignment keeps connected shafts and machine parts in the correct position.
Laser alignment or dial indicators can be used for accurate adjustment.
